What is happening with the Neighbourhood Plan at the moment?

Neighbourhood planning is a new way for communities to have a say in the future of the places where they live and work. It includes the ability to protect important green spaces through a Local Green Space (LGS) designation. Once designated as a LGS, the land has the same protection as Green Belt, which means it can’t be used for housing.

The Neighbourhood Plan for the unparished area of Horsham Town (Denne, Forrest and Trafalgar), has been written by Horsham Blueprint.

Our assessment of Muggeridge Field shows that it satisfies all of the criteria for a LGS designation. However, it hasn’t been designated in our neighbourhood plan. The assessment of Muggeridge Field in the neighbourhood plan was based on the views of the landowner, West Sussex County Council, and did not take into account the attributes of the field that would support a LGS designation (find out more).

On 20th October 2022, residents and businesses in Denne, Forrest and Trafalgar voted for the Horsham Blueprint Neighbourhood Plan to go ahead.
